GALLANT AIRMEN
DOMINION PILOTS THREE MORE D.F.CVS TWO AUCKLAND MEN (By Telegraph.—Press Association; WELLINGTON, Wednesday Advice has been received by Ah Headquarters, Wellington, today that three more New Zealanders, serving with the Royal Air Force, have been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. They are:—Pilot-Officer Allan Bridson, of Auckland, Wing-Com-mander Samuel Charles Elworthy, A.F.C., and Pilot-Officer Peter Bettley Robinson, of Auckland. Pilot-Officer Bridson was bom in Auckland and is 22 years of age. He was educated at the Seddon Memorial Technical College, Auckland, and took a prominent part in motor-cycle racing trials. He was selected for a short-service commission in 1939 and underwent partial training with the Auckland Aero Club before entering the R.N.Z.A.F. at Wigram a few days after the outbreak of war. He proceeded to England early in 1940 and since then has been serving with the R.A.F. His next of kin is his father, Mr T. A. Bridson, of Auckland. Wing-Commander Elworthy, of Timaru, was awarded the Air Force Cross in the New Year’s Honours. Pilot-Officer Robinson is 20 years of and was educated at the Seddon Memorial Technical College. He was selected for a short-service commission in 1939 and entered the R.N.Z.A.F. station at Wigram a few days after the outbreak of war. He left New Zealand to commence his service with the R.A.F. early in 1940. His next of kin is his mother, Mrs J. N. Arnold, of Parnell.
