GERMANS ON BORDER MESSAGE FROM HITLER a THREAT TO GREECE (Lulled l‘re-5 Assn.—Elec. Tel. Lopyrlgdt) LONDON, March 4 Bulgarian reports say German motorised forces have reached the Turkish frontier. More Turkish troops have moved to the Greek and Bulgarian frontiers of Turkey. A German aeroplane believed to be carrying a courier bearing a special message from Hitler to President Inonu of Turkey arrived at Istanbul yesterday, states Reuter’s Ankara correspondent. It is expected today at Anxara, where the German Embassy has asked the Turkish authorities to gi;ant special landing facilities lor the machine. The Times correspondent at Ankara says Germany is preparing to carry [the war into regions vital to Turkisn interests. The question is not wheitner Turkey will fulfil her obligations [but when and how. Mr Eden and jGeneral Sir John Dill told the Turks trankly of British military possibilities m each theatre ol war. The Turks [equally trankly, explained the possibilities of assisting the Allied cause, i both offensively and defensively. The concentration ot German troops continues on the Greek frontier. Detachments have arrived at Kulata and Nevrokop, in the Melvik area. German long-range bombers and fighters have gone to Bulgaria for black Sea patrols. The Greek Minister at Sofia has asked King Boris for a declaration of Bulgaria s attitude toward Greece but members of the Greek Legation [indicated that they would not place much reliance on such a declaration, [and the Legation is ready to leave at a moment’s notice. Peace With Honour The Berlin correspondent of the Stockholm (Sweden) newspaper Aftonbladet says Greece has still a chance to obtain peace with honour. The terms suggested include retention by Greece of part of her Albanian conquests, and cession to Germany of bases in Greek territory, which would be returned at the end of the war.
