RAGLAN SEAT

NATIONAL CANDIDATE MR A. S. SUTHERLAND Mr A. S. Sutherland, a member of the Auckland Harbour Board and of the Auckland Lands Board, yesterday consented to contest the Raglan electorate at the forthcoming general elections in the interests oi the

National Party, when a large and representative deputation of about 30 supporters from the whole of the electorate waited on him at Ngaruawahia. The deputation was introduced by Mr L. S. Keals, of Onewherc. Mr Sutherland was an unsuccessful candidate for the same electorate at the 1938 elections when he was defeated by the sitting Labour member, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, who recently announced his retirement from politics.
