TE AWAMUTU CARNIVAL (By Tclegrarth.—*neel«l tr* Times) TE AWAMUTU, Saturday The final selections have been made for the Te Awamutu Queen Carnival, which is being held in the Te Awamutu borough and district for the purpose of electing the Te Awamutu district queen for the Waikato carnival. Interest has increased rapidly in the past few days and committees are busily engaged in the work of raising funds. The four contestants are:—Town, Miss Shirley Blundell; Eastern. Miss .TAcsie Mahon, P”ahue: Northern Miss Maureen Shaw, Paterangi; South-west. Miss Mona Kay, Korakonui. Northern Area Activity The following committee was elected at a meeting held in the Paterangi Hall for the northern area queen: Chairman, Mr Forsyth: secretary, Mrs Jenkinson; Mesdames Macky, Ryburn, Peart and Trigg; Messrs Johnson, Corcoran. Bollard, Finn, Lorrimer and Cowley. Delegates for the respective districts are as follows:—Paterangi, Mesdames Macky and Ryburn; Ohaupo. Mrs Jenkinson and Mr Forsyth: Te Rahu, Mrs Trigg and Mr L. Cowley; Ngaroto, Mrs Peart and Mr J. A. Johnson; Te Pahu-Harapepe, Messrs Corcoran and Bollard; Te Rore, Messrs Finn and Lorrimer. Miss Maureen Shaw, of Paterangi, was elected the northern area queen, with gold as her colour.
