AMERICAN PRESIDENCY MR ROOSEVELT’S CHARGES FALSIFICATION OF FACT (United press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Oct. 19. 3.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Oct. 18 President Roosevelt, in a formal statement to the press, said:—• “Speaking at a Democratic Government Convention on July 19 the President said. T have not the time 1 or the inclination to engage in a i purely political debate, but I will ! never be loath to call the nation’s j attention to deliberate or unwitting ! falsifications of fact.’ There has j been in this campaign a systematic | programme of falsification of fact | by the opposition. “The President does not believe ! that this has been unwitting. He I believes that it is deliberate falsi- j fication, therefore he has decided to j tell the American people what j these misrepresentations have been and in what respect they are ! false.” Mr Roosevelt, when asked whether ' he considered the inclusion of Can- ; ada in the Pan-American Union was j desirable, said he had not thought of i the matter.
