COST OF LIVING

RISE IN ENGLAND EGGS AND MILK DEARER (omclal Wireless) (Received Oct. 19. 3.15 p.m.) RUGBY, Oct. 18 The Ministry of Labour reports a rise of two points in the cost of living figures compared with that ruling on August 31. On October 1, the index figure was 81 points above the July, 1914, level compared with 87 points on August 31. The rise is equivalent to about one per cent. For food alone the rise over the August level is higher by about two per cent. The rise in the food index, the Ministry states, is due mainly to increases in the price of eggs with some increase in the fish price and a seasonal rise in milk.
