AIR FORCE ACTIVE TRANSPORTS BOMBED CLASH BY PATROLS (United Press A?n.—Elec. Tel. Convrlgbt) (Received Oct. 19. 2 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 18 Successful air operations were carried out by our aircraft on Wednesday night in a raid on Benghazi, states a Royal Air Force communique issued in Cairo. Direct hits were observed on two ships unloading at the quayside. A third ship is believed to have been hit. Near Solium motor transport concentrations were bombed, but the full extent of the damage has not yet been ascertained An attack on an enemy camp at Sofafi, south of Bug Bug. was also delivered. All the bombs fell within the target area. Also on Wednesday night a raid was made on Derna. where military barracks were hit by incendiary and high explosive bombs. In Abyssinia successful attacks were made on Gonda. 30 miles north of Lake Tana. Tessenia on the SudanAbyssinian border, and also on Kossala.

An official communique issued in Nairobi states: “Our patrols again made contact with the enemy in the neighbourhood of Liboli.

“Neghelli, in Abyssinia, was again successfully raided by the South African Air Force on Wednesday, when a Caproni machine was badly damaged and direct hits were registered on aerodrome buildings.”
