LIFE IN ENGLAND
CONFIDENCE IN VICTORY ABUNDANCE OF FOOD "We are all quite fit and well, there is plenty of food of every kind and an abundance of work for those who desire it.” A letter stating these facts which was written by a relative in England on August 14 has been received by Mrs J. Sales, of Frankton. Taxation has been heavy on a number of goods, states the writer, but only upon luxuries. Most people, however, pay the extra willingly, with the full knowledge that this struggle has but one ultimate end, that the Nazis may be wiped out. “The Germans yesterday lost 78 planes, which made up a total of 205 in four days,” the letter continues. "The Royal Air Force is working with a vengeance, for the Dunkirk evacuation is still fresh in their minds. "The news I have endeavoured to impart regarding our welfare will, I am sure, cheer you up. We feel we are in God’s hands and we will come out on top.”
