, Community Singing in Hamilton I At the concert to be given in Hamilton next Thursday night by the ' soldiers of the district, on behalf of i the Citizens’ Queen, Mr Vernon 1 Drew, the well-known song leader of Auckland, will conduct community singing. This should be a popular feature, for soldiers and the general public love to sing. Marie Ney in Melbourne Marie Ney, the New Zealand actress, continues to draw large audiences in Melbourne in “Ladies in Retirement ” “Lilac Time” Revival i When the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company—now drawing large l audiences in Melbourne—returns to j Sydney it is likely that “Lilac Time” | and perhaps “The Sorcerer” will be ! added to the repertoire. Ballet for New Zealand M. Levitoff, who was in New Zeaj land in an administrative capacity ! with the last Monte Carlo Russian Ballet, is a visitor to Wellington. During recent months M. Levitoff j has interested himself in the development of the ballet in Australia, and j may bring a small company to New Zealand in the near future. “Crazy Show” in Brisbane I Vaudeville, is still popular in AusI tralia. The Tivoli theatres in Syd- | ney and Melbourne are always j crowded. , The “Crazy Show” in Brisbane has jno fewer than four well-known ; comedians —George Wallace, Syd. Beck, Maurice Barling, and Bob • Dyer. Mr Dyer is the “hill-billy” i who was so popular with the Marcus j Show.
Alec Regan, formerly of the Clem Dawe company and later a theatre manager in various cities in New Zealand, is now in his own revue company in Adelaide.
