INTOXICATED IN CART

FINE OF £5 ON INDIAN When Gosia Bhula, a 45-year-old Indian hawker, was driving in his horse and cart down Ellis Street, Frankton yesterday, his general behaviour attracted the attention of Traffic Inspector Jones. When the cart was stopped, the hawker was arrested by a constable on a charge of being drunk in charge of a horse and cart. Bhula pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, this morning. Senior-Sergeant A. G. McHugh said Bhula was arrested at 5.50 p.m. yesterday, and was found to be in an advanced state of intoxication. A companion, who was in the cart was also drunk, and had fallen out of the cart on his head. The Indian had been in Court before on a similar charge. Bhula had nothing to say in explanation and was convicted and fined £5.
