CLAY BIRO SHOOTING BIG WEEK-END EVENT (Special to Times) TE KUITI, Wednesday There was a large attendance at the Tf Kuiti Hod and Gun Club’s clay bird shoot held at the aerodrome at the week-ena and some excellent shouting was witnessed The Mayor, Mr 11. T. Morton, was present and 'there were visitors from Te Awarnutu, Otorohanga, Te Arolia, Pio Pio Hamilton and Taumaranul. The five-track system was used by the club for the first time and proved very successful. The following were the results:— Eye opener: J. O’llalloran and J. Wlskr Shot the possible and divided. Six Bird sweepstake and trophy donated by 11. It. White, Ltd.: W. H. Carter, W Read. Allen Fraser and L. Pennlal divided. The shoot oIT Tor the trophy was won by W. Read. Five Bird 'Sweepstake: Allen Fraser. IT. carter. L. Pennlall and J.' O'Hallaran shot the possible and divided. Novice shoot for three trophies, donated bv the president: Bruce John.-ton 1. W Howie 2. S. Lomas 3. Cup shoot, 'ten birds): C. Renton and r.. Ilarrord •shot, the possible and divided in the shoot otT for the Cup C. Benton was successful. Fifteen Bird Sweepstake: rpnniall and W. H. Carter shot the possible and divided. M. Pratt won the shoot-off for third place. seven Bird cimeraek: Wiske and L. Harford shot the possible and divided. Double Ri~e : L. rennlall, W. Carter and J. O’Hallaron divided. Box Slioot: M. Pratt and L. Tenniall divided. 80 PER CENT. MORE OUTPUT The output of the Aria Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, to the end of September shows an increase over the same period of last year by over 80 per cent The grade is appreciably higher. BOWLS OPENING The Te Kuiti Bowling Club was fortunate in having perfect weather .for the opening of the season. There was a large number of club members, croquet club players, and visitors from all parts of the district. The patron, Mr W. J. Broadfoot M.P., and the Mayor, who Is an honorary member of the club, attended later it Dm afternoon. The president. »Mr H. O Shakes, welcomed members and visitors. 16 MILES ROAD RACE The Te Kuiti Cycle Club had a solid ride of 16 miles, over which J. McCormack scored a well deserved win. Next was .i Sanderson, but D. Stewart and A. i.Meridltb with fast sprints just managed to pas? him a few yards from the finishing line Results were: J. 'McCormack (3m 14s) 1: D. 'Stewart (lm), 2; A. Meredith (lm 455), 3. PLAY READING The Te Kuiti Performers Drama -Club met on Monday evening when the "Twc Gentlemen of Soho” by A. P. Herbert, was read. It was resolved that the club affiliate with the British Drama League. BAND OFFICERS At a meeting of the Te Kuiti 'Municipal Band the following officers were elected President, Mr A. Blackman; vice-presi-dents. Messrs A. D. McLennan and J. Henderson; executive. Messrs A. Corle-tt, L. A Boswell. T. Dowie. \\\ Stewart. S. Millar J. Peterson. T. Duffy; secretary, Mr V Du ft y; treasurer, Mr M. J. strange; auditor Mr A. Reed. Mr F. Tubman was unanimmislv plerted bandmaster.
