TENNIS OPENING

YANKEE TOURNAMENT There was a large attendance at the Tirau Tennis Club when play for the new season began with a Yankee tournament. Visitors were present from the Waharoa, Walton, Okoroire and Rangapai clubs and some excellent games were enjoyed. Mr T. Macken, president of the Waikato East Tennis Association, opened the club and Miss Ruve Macken hit the first ball. The winners of a Yankee tournament were: Miss J. Goodwin and Mr F. Bailey. Some of those present were:—Mesdames H. Wine, F. Batley, L. B. Shand (Okoroire), S. Hetherington, E. Gubb (Okoroire), H. F. Morse, S. Browmlie, Pilcher.
