FROM MOTUMAOHO

OPENING DAY The Motumaoho Tennis Club opened its courts in fine weather on Saturday, when there was a large attendance of members and friends. Mr Dunbar, the club’s president, declared the courts open for the season and welcomed the visitors. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the committee. AIRMAN FAREWELLED There was a large and representative gathering in the Motumaoho Hall recently to bid farewell to Sergeant-Pilot Ken Jenner. Mr Meharry, expressing the wishes of those present, asked Mr Jenner to accept a leather wallet as a token of their esteem, and remarked that, although a number of soldiers had been farewelled from Motumaoho, this was the first time the district had had the privilege of farewelling an airman. Sergeant-Pilot Jenner

suitably replied. Music for dancing was supplied by Miss Glasscock, Mrs Harbottle, Mr Glasscock and Mr Phillips. Mr N. Ferguson carried out the duties of master of ceremonies.
