OBITUARY

MRS G. W. MAYES The death has occurred of Mrs Alexandrina Mayes, of Commerce Street, Frankton, at the age of 77 years. Mrs Mayes came to New Zealand with her parents, settling at Whangarei Heads. In 1888 she married Mr George Westland Mayes, and after living in Paeroa and Rotorua came to Hamilton. In 19341 Mr and Mrs Mayes celebrated the golden anniversary of their wedding. Mr Mayes was a member of the Auckland Naval Artillery, which was responsible for bringing to bay the Maori rebel Te Kooti. Mrs Mayes is survived by her husband and six children.
