RURAL CREDITS ASSOCIATION (Special to Times.) O T OROHA NG A, Th u rsd ay. The annual report at the Otorohanga Intermediate Rural Credit Association disclosed a satisfactory year’s working. The sum of approximately £6OOO had been advanced by way of loans to members. Due to repayments, the sum outstanding by members was reduced to £7 969 and all repayments were being made satisfactorily The association had been in operation for the past 12 years, and the advances made had reached a very considerable sum in the aggregate, without any loss being made. The report and balance-sheet were proved at the annual meeting. Mr G. W L Palmer was elected to the directorate in place of Mr J. Byrnes, who has left the district, Mr G. O. Jourdaln was re-elected auditor. OFFENCE BY YOUTH OBSTRUCTION ON RAILWAY LINE A youth aged 16 appeared berore Mr W. 11. Freeman, S.M., in the Otorohanga Police Court on a charge or placing several obstructions on the railway lines at tin* Kio Kio station yards. The magistrate pointed out the seriousness of the offence and the likelihood or such actions causing serious damage and loss of life. He adjourned tiie case, however, as the lad contemplated joining the EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS Some 40 members of the Honikiwi Emergency Precautions Corps paraded before Major li. s*. 8. Westmacott, 0.8. E., on Saturday. The major inspected the arms and addressed the men, outlining their duties if occasion should arise. The local branch of tlie Auxiliary Corps also paraded, and the catering section provided refreshments during the day. The school children, under the supervision of Mrs Carlin, enacted a mock air raid, and gave demonstrations of llrst-aid to the injured.
