ARMY AS CAREER
SELECTING TEN CADETS CANDIDATES FOR DUNTROON (By Telegraph.—press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday For the duration of the war it is intended to send 10 cadets each year from New Zealand to the Royal Military College, Duntroon, Australia, the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announced to-day. In pursuance of this policy headmasters of secondary schools have been circularised and requested to recommend suitable boys. The cadetships are intended for those who desire to make the army their permanent profession, and it is hoped to secure the best type of youth for these appointments. Nominations close toward the end of November, after which provisional selection will be made of 12 to 15 candidates who will undergo a short course of instruction at Trentham in January. From this number the final selection will be made of the ten who will go to Duntroon in March, 1941.
