ROAD FATALITY

CAR HITS PEDESTRIAN FARMER KILLED INSTANTLY ACCIDENT AT KIHI KIHI (Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU, Friday A well-known Pukeatua farmer was killed instantly when he was struck by a south-bound car on the main highway at Kihi Kihi at about 10.40 last night. The victim was: Mr Norman Bailey Fletcher, aged 55, married, with an adult family. Mr Fletcher had attended a meeting in the Kihi Kihi Town Hall in connection with the coming queen carnival, and was crossing the road outside the hall when he was struck by a car driven by Mr Robert Hamilton Miller, a young farmer of Parawera. Formerly of Taranaki, where he was well known m stock circles, Mr Fletcher came to Pukeatua about five year:; ago. An inquest was opened this morning by the Coroner, Mr W. Jeffery, and adjourned after evidence of I identification had been given.
