PERFORMERS’ NIGHT
HAMILTON ORPHANS’ CLUB The Hamilton Orphans’ Club, on Saturday night, wound up the season with a complimentary evening to those who had assisted in the entertainment throughout the session. Vice-president Bro. E. L. Watkins was in the chair and there was a large attendance, including visitors from Auckland, Te Aroha, Morrinsville and Hastings clubs. The chairman kept the proceedings bright throughout, and one or two informal interludes created much merriment. A feature of the programme was a special “wrestling” broadcast presented by Bro. T. G. Dugmore. The chairman extended his thanks to all those who had helped the club during the season, pointing out that the orchestra had given excellent service and was undoubtedly a credit to the club and to orphandom. To the many artists who had given pleasure in song and story the club was extremely grateful. The uniformly high standard of the programmes was something of which the club was very proud. A splendid programme was presented by Bros. S. Stayte (elocution), H. J. Baker, H. Saunders, V. Wing. W. Revell (Te Aroha), W. Trembath and Snowden (songs), T. C. Dugmore (novelty broadcast), E. H. Quill and K. P. Eade (humour). The orchestra, under conductor Bro. W. A. King, also presented several numbers.
