CLINIC OPENED
AT FRANKTON SCHOOL CARE OF CHILDREN’S TEETH MORE FACILITIES NEEDED An important addition to the school dental clinic system in Hamilton was made on Saturday aiterpoon when the new Frankton Clinic was officially opened by Dr. R. M. S. Taylor, senior dental officer of the Hamilton district, in the absence of Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P. A telegram from the Prime Minister, tfie Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, conveyed his congratulations to those concerned. “Dental fitness contributes in no small degree to our aim of raising the nation’s standard of health,” said Mr Fraser, “and the success which has already marked the work and achievements of dental clinics throughout the Dominion will, I am sure, be of similar help to Frankton Junction.” The chairman of the Hamilton School Committees, Mr H. M. Baker, briefly outlined the development of the dental clinic system in Hamilton. A fourth clinic, said Mr Baker, was needed at either Hamilton West or Hillcrest to carry out fully all the work and he hoped that next year, when the appeal for funds was made to the various schools, they would contribute as willingly as they had done to the new Frankton clinic. Brief congratulatory speeches were also given by Mr Hayward, representing the Frankton School, and by Mr F. A. Snell, on behalf of the Auckland Education Board. In declaring the clinic open, Dr. Taylor stressed the foundations on which a clinic must be based, namely a well-trained staff of nurses, an adequate clinic building and equipment, and, especially, the support and co-operation of parents and children.
Following the official opening those present inspected the new building, which cost nearly £SOO.
