OBITUARY

MR CHERRY KEARTON NATURALIST AND EXPLORER (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 28 The death has occurred of Mr Cherry Kearton, the well-known British naturalist and explorer. A pioneer of wild life photography, Mr Cherry Kearton was born in Yorkshire in 1871. He organised big-game hunting expeditions in Africa, India and elsewhere, with cameras taking the place of guns. On several of his more recent expeditions he obtained amazing cinematograph films of animal life. Mr Kearton and his wife visited New Zealand in 1936.
