ORPHANS’ CLUB
SEASON ENDS IN CAMBRIDGE VISITORS FROM ONEHUNGA (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Monday The Cambridge Orphans’ Club concluded a successful season on Saturday night, when an enjoyable gathering was held in the Arawa Hall. A party of 14 members of the Onehunga Club, led by their president, Bro. G. McKendrick, were the main guests of the evening, and visitors were present also from Matamata and Hamilton. The president, Bro. G. E. Haydon, presided. Colonel A. E. Loach, of Christchurch, honorary secretary of the Association of Kindred Savage and Orphans’ Clubs, who has been touring the Waikato, occupied a seat at the official table. Bro. McKendrick returned thanks to Cambridge for the hospitality extended the visitors, and wished the club continued succession. A collection was taken up during the evening for the Air Raid Fund, the sum of £1 17s 9d, being raised. The programme was as follows: Overture and march, club’s orchestra, conducted by Bro. M. Richardson; songs, Bro. C. White (Onehunga); songs, Bro. R. Haydon; monologues, Bro. G. Goodwin; songs, Bro. L. Feisst; marches, club’s orchestra; songs, Bro. P. J. Randle, with violin obligato by Bro. M. Richardson; violin solos, Bro. M. Richardson; humour, Bro. B. Peace (Hamilton); cornet solos, Bro. Mygrave (Matamata).
