TELEVISION RECORD

RECEIVED AT 1800 MILES A record-breaking reception of a television programme at Tulsa, Okla., 1800 miles from New York transmitting station, was reported by the National Broadcasting Company recently. Signals, picked up at Station KVOO at Tulsa, were of the Thursday night telecast of the Republican National Convention at Philadelphia, Watt Stinson, Chief Engineer of KVOO, said pictures came in every minute or so for several seconds over a two-hour period and that the sound was recognisable 50 per cent of the time. The longest previous reception record of the New York transmitter, located atop the Empire ‘ State Building, was Chicago, approximately 1000 miles away.
