Copyright) HONGKONG, Sept. 28 The bus and tram strike in the Shanghai International Settlement was settled tonight after lasting a week and causing the worst transportation tie-up in the history of Shanghai. The services will resume tomorrow. It is not announced whether the bus and tram strikes in the French Concession has been settled. Nearly 1000 coolies employed by the Public Works Department in the Settlement have returned to their jobs. It is estimated that 8000 went on strike, the daily loss to the utility companies being £83,000 and the total loss over £330,000. Forty-one persons have been arrested. Twelve were injured in the week’s disorders. Many streets in the Settlement are littered with garbage dumped by coolies from their carts.
