ADVANCE OF JAPANESE NAVAL BASE SECURED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 28 The Japanese have occupied the Dosom shore batteries, which protect Haiphong, thus securing their first naval base in Indo-China. The French said it was a minor incident and was not likely to have repercussions. The Japanese have established their headquarters in the premises of the Sino-American South-Western Transportation Company, which previously imported American trucks consigned to China. It is estimated that 1000 new trucks awaiting delivery are now confiscated. SAIGON, Sept. 28 Thailand (Siam) has renewed its demands on Indo-China. A Thailand aeroplane machine-gunned police 40 miles inside the border at Mougthadeua. The local French authorities said Thailand’s demands should be discussed at Vichy instead of Hanoi.
