ROYAL AIR FORCE SUCCESS ENEMY PLANE DESTROYED MANY FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 28 A Royal Air Force communique issued at Cairo states: “ A bomber squadron on Friday attacked the Giarabub fort and scored many direct hits. A large cloud of smoke arose and later enemy fighters attacked the formation as it was returning from the rqid. One Italian machine was shot down, while one of our bombers has not returned. “ An attack was also made on a motor transport concentation 25 miles south of Giarabub. Bombs fell on stationary vehicles and there were many fires and explosions.” Italians Killed A Cairo communique states: In Kenya on Friday enemy aircraft bombed Bura, but there were no casualties. A patrol engagement at Wal Garis resulted in 12 of the enemy being killed. In the Sudan, Egypt and Palestine there is nothing to report. Enemy bombers, escorted by fights ers, attacked the Luga aerodrome at Malta, slight, damage resulting. Hurricane fighters shot down one Caproni 42 and one Savoia 79, with no loss to ourselves. From reconnaissance flights over enemy territory, carried out by the South African Air Force on Thursday, all the aircraft returned safely. Enemy aircraft attempted to bomb Buna early on Friday. A number of bombs was dropped but there were no casualties and no military damage.
