GAOL FOR SOLDIER
MISSED TRAIN AND TOOK CAR (By TolPtrmnh—r"(>« \«soctatlon) WELLINGTON. Monday A sentence of three months’ hard labour was imposed by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., on a soldier, Robert Harold Russell, aged 19, for unlawful conversion of a car. The police stated accused missed the last train to Trentham on Saturday night and took a car from the Hotel Waterloo. The owner of the car claimed that three gallons of petrol had been used and that the car travelled at least 120 miles. It was damaged to the extent of approximately £25. The magistrate said accused, who was before the court in Christchurch a week ago for a similar offence, had had warning.
