MARMALADE CAKE It will be a useful thing to have a plain cake in the larder, and the following marmalade cake is a good recipe and a nice cake, but it won’t keep fresh very long. Ingredients.—£lb plain flour, 1 small teaspoonful cream of tartar, £ a small teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda, i teaspoonful salt; 1 oz. sugar, 2 ozs. butter, 1 egg, 3 tablespoonfuls of marmalade. Method.—Rub the fat into the flour, sift in the cream of tartar and bicarbonate of soda and salt, and mix well, stirring in the sugar. Stir in the marmalade lightly, beat up the egg and stir that in. Put in a greased cake tin. Bake in a moderate oven (Regulo No. 5), for J hour and finish with Regulo No. 3 for £ hour.
