HAMILTON GOLF FINAL GLADING "WINS 14 AND 13 OTHER SECTIONS VERY CLOSE A wide margin of victory was secured by R. H. Glading, North Island amateur golf champion, when he re- ] tained the Hamilton club champion- j ship at St. Andrews at the week-end j by defeating E. Etheridge 14 up and s 13 to play. R. H. Coltman won the j intermediate title and L. Edmonds the i junior chamnionship. } All contests were decided over 36 j holes, but the senior became a one- i sided match even before the end of l the first holes in the morning, at the I end of which Glading was leading 9 ! up after having played a medal score j of 71, which was three strokes better ' than the scratch score. Etheridge, : ! on the other hand, required 80 strokes for the morning 18. Glading was too consistent for his opponent and in the afternoon he started off to take the first nine holes and also the championship by the wide margin. A keen contest developed in the intermediate grade, in which R. H. i Coltman defeated H. F. Blackie at | the 38th. It was a great contest, particularly in the second round, which Coltman commenced four up. L. Edmonds beat J. F. McCullagh 2 and 1 in another keen contest, which was all square at the end of i the morning round, to take the junior championship. On Saturday a bogey match was played at St. Andrews, seniors partnering juniors. The winning pair was C. B. Wake and A. T. James, who won on the count back. Their score was 7 up. Cann and Brownless were also 7 up. Loveridge and Haggie, ! and Liddell and McCullagh were J both 6 up, while McDonald and Evans and Tompkins and Day were both 5 up-
