Drought Kills Oysters
Oyster farmers blame the drought for increased mortality among oysters, particularly in George’s River, near Sydney, and for an appreciable diminishing ivi the maturing and fattening cf the shellfish. The annual production of oysters in New South Wales during 1938-39, the latest figures available, decreased by almost 1700 bags, compared with the previous year.
