HAMILTON CLUB MEETS OPENING- ON OCTOBER 12 The Hamilton Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held its 47th annual meeting in the Y.M.C.A. last evening. Mr R. H. Malcolm presided over an excellent attendance. The president, in briefly reviewing a most successful season, paid a tribute to those members of the club who had enlisted for military service and said he hoped to see the remaining members making every possible effort to keep the club’s flag flying throughout the war years. The ground at Hinemoa Pai’k had been greatly improved by the erection of dressing room and shower accommodation. This new dressing shed would be available for the present season and members would be expected to take every possible care of the facilities thus made available.
The treasurer (Mr T. R. Thompson) reported, in a detailed balancesheet, that the club finances were in a very healthy condition. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr N. H. Hooker; president, Ml- A. H. Malcolm; vice-presidents, Messrs H. D. Caro, F. Findlay, P. Reid, H. D. Tait, G. Bradley, F. W. Burley and Dr. T. C. Fraser; secretary, Mr R. Pink; treasurer, Mr T. R. Thompson; club captain, Mr R. H. Dent; vice captain, Mr J. Row; junior captain, Mr I. Judge; junior vice captain, Mr R. Muir; marksman, Mr J. Bartlett, sen.; assistant marksman, Mr T. R. Thompson; starter, Mr ’R. L. Manderson; assistant starter, Mr A. H. Malcolm; press steward, Mr R. L. Manderson; handicapper, Mr D. Shooter; delegates to Waikato sub-centre, Messrs C. J. Thompson and H. Joyes; coaches, Messrs C. J. Thompson, A. E. Graham, A. E. Sutton, A. H. Malcolm and R. O. Johnson; record stewardess, Miss F. Cowley; committee, Messrs F. T. Sadd, H. Joyes, C. J. Thompson, P. W. Kelly, F. Hodgson, C. Roskruge, C. P. McOnie, S. F. Kepple, P. Ahern, I. Judge, R. H. Bent, R. Bee, J. Row, C. Bogue and Misses M. Bradley, E. S. McLeod, M. Sutherland, D. Westwood, B. Kelly and Mrs R. B. Joyes. Twenty-four new members were elected. The opening day was set down for October 12. It was unanimously decided that Mr R. B. Joyes be elected a life member of the club. Mr Joyes goes into camp with the Fourth Reinforcements next week. The appointment of a women’s captain was left to a later date. It was decided to hold a working bee at Hinemoa Park on Saturday, October 5, commencing at 2 p.m.
