RAGLAN OPENING

BOWLING AND CROQUET CLUBS (Special to Times) RAGLAN. Thursday. The Raglan bowling and croquet greens have been opened for play. At the official opening the president of the bowling club, Mr C. H. Marcroft, referred to the loss sustained by the Wallis family in the death of their mother. Thanks were expressed to the greenwarden, .Mr J. B. .Murgatroyd, for the splendid order of the green. New players were welcomed. Miniature trophies won by Messrs J. Wheeler and E. Petchell in the Thompson Pairs were presented. Mrs A. Pegler, president or the croquet club, also spoke, and, on belialf of the club, made a presentation to the auditor Mr G. Carr. Mrs Marcroft sent down the first “kitty” and Mrs Pegler the first bowl. Mrs W. R Moore drove the croquet ball through the hoop. Afternoon tea was provided by members of the croquet cluh.
