CIVIL DEFENCE
SUCCESS OF SERVICES MANY RISKS TAKEN (United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 24 Practical experience during the past few weeks has demonstrated the soundness of organisation and excellent spirit of the civil defence services, according to a report by the London County Council Civil Defence Committee. The greatest demands have been made on the London Fire Service. The regular and auxiliary services alike have worked with the utmost energy, whatever the risk. The London Ambulance Service, including the auxiliary service, has transported many air-raid casualties to hospital and. in spite of the blackout, the average time taken to reach a casualty has been only seven minutes from the receipt of the call.
