OTOROIIANGA AIRMAN FLYING-OFFICER B. J. CARBURY ACTION AGAINST RAIDERS (Special to Times) OTOROHANGA, Thursday Advice has been received of the award of the Distinquished Flying Cross to Flying-Officer B. J. G. Carbury, a former pupil of the Otorohanga District High School. He is a son of Mr H. W. Carbury, who formerly practised as a veterinary surgeon in Otorohanga. The official citation states that Flying-Officer Carbury led a section against two aeroplanes operating on north-east coast of Britain and destroyed both. He was almost continually engaged for nearly a week against large enemy raids over Kent. He destroyed eight aeroplanes, of which five were brought down in three successive engagements in one day.
