Bred at S eartown by Mr T. E. Hide, Queen of Song is a nine-year-old bay mare by Song Bird from Differential, a Tractor mare bred by Mr L. C. Hazlett in 1924 Queen of Song has been easily Differential’s outstanding foal. The V.R.C. c. B. Eisner Plate, Wellington Cup, C.J.C. Great Autumn Handicap, Riverton and Invercargill Cups, Oamaru President’s and Gardner Memorial Handicaps are numbered among her more important successes, while she was fourth in the -Melbourne Cup of 193 6 won by Wotan. The veteran Riccarton horseman, J. W. Jennings, has ridden Queen of Song in many of her races and the combination was successful in the Timvald Handicap, chief race at the Ashburton meeting last November, a race in which she galloped freely for a comfortable win from Swords tick and Parquet. Her other placing's in ten other starts I were a third to Doublebeak -and Sword- ; stick in the Wyndham Cup and a second to Willie Win In the Midsummer Handicap at Riccarton in February.
