LITTLE CHANGE
MARKET FOR BEEF VALUES AT FRANKTON There was little change for beef at the Frankton stock sale today, when an average entry was forward. Ox beef was actually in the lightest supply for some time, but this was without any beneficial effect on the market tone, some pens being difficult to quit. In the cow and heifer beef section quality was up to standard but there was no marked enthusiasm about the competition. A full entry of fat sheep sold steadily over early sales although values in some cases were a shade easier. Fat pigs were forward in the largest numbers to date this season, but keen competition from a fuller bench of buyers maintained values at generally late rates. Quotations: Heavy prime bullocks, £l2 10s to £l3 ss; medium, £ll l s to £l2; extra heavy prime cows and heifers, £9 to £lO 10s; prime, £7 5s to £8 1 is 6d; fat, £6 5s to £7 ls; light and tillable. £4 7s 6d to £5 10s.
