ORGAN RECITAL

ST. PETER’S CATHEDRAL An interesting programme of organ music was presented in St. Peter’s Cathedral last evening by the organist, Mr Stanley Jackson. The numbers selected covered a comprehensive range of music and were listened to by a large audience. Of particular merit was the rendering of the Toccata “Esquissio Byzantines” (H. Mulet), requiring brilliant execution, in which Mr Jackson brought out the full beauty of the organ. It was an outstanding piece of musicianship. Other numbers on the programme were Prelude and Fugue in D Major (Bach), Improvisation, and Larghetto (Wesley). Two airs, “Angels Ever Bright and Fair” and “How Beautiful Are the Feet,” both by Handel, were pleasingly sung by Master Neil Church, boy soprano, who possesses a real gift for interpretation combined with a true soprano voice. The Very Rev. Dean Weatherhog spoke of the pleasure Mr Stanley Jackson had given in presenting the programmes.
