Copyright) (Received Sept. 23, 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 22 An intercepted German wireless message carried a despatch from Vichy asserting that British warships attacked a French naval squadron off Dakar and damaged one French vessel. Details are obscure. However, it is indicated that the French cruisers returned to Dakar because of the British superior gun-power. MELBOURNE, Sept. 23 The Naval Board advises that there is no official confirmation of the message from New York reporting a BritishFrench naval action off Dakar.
