Y.M.C.A. AT CAMP
CLAUDELANDS FACILITIES A different “spirit” prevails in the main bar at the Claudelands racecourse since the camp was taken over for the training of tlpe 7th Medium Battery, New Zealand Artillery. It is now the camp recreational room and every night the troops have considerable amusement. The military authorities made the room as comfortable as possible as soon as the camp was established, and on Saturday a secretary appointed by the National Committee of the Y.M.C.A. took up his duties. With the Y.M.C.A. now established, additions to the recreation room equipment will be made and programmes of entertainment for the men arranged. The men will have use of various types of games, reading, writing, and ironing facilities, while tea and light refreshments will be obtainable at all times. A piano at the camp has proved popular since the men went under canvas. The Y.M.C.A. has expressed appreciation of the co-operation received from the Hamilton Patriotic Committee in the organisation of the Claudelands camp facilities.
