NEW MOTOR CAMP

PROGRESS AT RAGLAN PREPARING FOR SUMMER Excellent progress is being made with the construction work on the new camping ground at Raglan and when the summer holidays commence this popular sea-side resort will have one of the most modern motor camps in the Province. The ever-growing popularity of Raglan has prompted the authorities to greatly improve the camping ground in anticipation of a record crowd during this summer. Spaces for camping sites adjacent to a belt of pine trees are being cleared by an angle-dozer, while a system of wind-breaks through the lupins is also in course of construction. In the centre of the camp a building (40ft by 20ft) and containing 12 electric cookers and six teinks wall 'be erected, while another building will house 16 showers. Large lockers will be constructed along the outside wall of the large building. Better Access Being Prepared An important feature is the construction of an all-weather road for easy access to the camp. This work is also under way and will be greatly appreciated by motorists. In view of the benzine restrictions and the impossibility of campers to travel very far afield this year it is expected that many Waikato people will spend their annual seaside vacation at Raglan this year. Raglan is preparing now for a record crowd so that all facilities will be available.

An innovation at Raglan during the Christmas and New Year holidays will be the appearance of a number of yachts on the harbour. The Hamilton Yacht Club is expected to take ten or more yachts over during the period and races will be arranged every day with two or three big events on regatta day.
