DELHI CONFERENCE
EMPIRE COUNTRIES NEW ZEALAND DELEGATION MATTERS OF WAR SUPPLY (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday The Prime Minis ler, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, announced today New Zealand would be represented at the Economic Conference of Empire ( countries at Delhi at the end of October by Major-General Sir John Duigan, Chief of the General Staff: Mr F. R. Picot, Director of Internal Marketing; Mr J. R. Middleton, Assistant Secretary of Supply; Lieutensistant Secretary of Supply; Major H. Erridge, Commanding Officer of the Ordnance Corps; and Mr Taylor, Assistant Chief Investigating Officer to the Treasury Department. The conference would be concerned principally with war supply matters, said Mr Fraser. The object was to ensure the best possible use of all existing and potential resources of the Eastern Empire countries for the prosecution of the war. 44 With the interruption of Mediterranean communications.” said the Prime Minister, 44 it is essential that Empire countries this side of Suez should develop and co-ordinate to the fullest possible extent their economic and military resources, and the New Zealand Government believes that, in addition to immense benefits which will accrue to the war effort of the Empire as a whole, the proposed arrangements will be of considerable value to the defence of this country as well.”
