Deanna Durbin Will Sing New Songs in “Spring Parade ”

Cinema .\, Snapshots

For the first time in her career, lowing her spectacular success in in which every song was written especially for her. Heretofore, Deanna’s pictures have contained both classical and modern numbers, but it will be otherwise with Universal’s “Spring Parade,” which Joe Pasternak will place in production soon, under direction ot Henry Koster. In this film, Deanna will sing seven numbers, with special lyrics by Gus Khan, dean of American song-writers, and music by Robert Stolz, celebrated European composer. Incidentally, Kahn wrote the lyrics for the modern songs of Deanna’s first picture, “Three Smart Girls.” Each of the songs of "Spring Parade” are being tailored especially to Deanna's voice and to the action of the picture, promising an entirely new treatment in the way of presentation of the star’s musical numbers. Kahn has been writing successful songs for the past 25 years. Among his hit numbers were: "Yes Sir, That’s My Baby,” “Your Eyes Have Told Me So,” "Isle of Golden Dreams,” "Carioca,” and the lyrics for numerous musical comedy successes, including “Whoopee” and “Naughty Marietta.”
