RAILWAY FAREWELL
THREE FRANKTON EMPLOYEES Three members of the staff of the Frankton Junction Railway Station were farewelled recently. They were Messrs D. Bricknell and R. MacKenzie, of the car and waggon staff, | and Mr T. J. Horan, train examiner. Messrs Bricknell and MacKenzie, both of whom are going overseas on active service, were wished bon voyage and a safe return by Mr R. W. Young, who on behalf of the car and waggon staff presented each with a shaving companion. Mr Horan, who was retiring on superannuation after 40 years’ service, was also farewelled. For 20 years of this time Mr Horan was train examiner at Frankton Junction, a position which he had. held with great success. On behalf of the staff Mr Young presented Mr Horan with a travelling rug and Mrs Horan with a handbag. In reply Mr Horan thanked those present for their good wishes and the gifts, assuring them that he would carry with him many happy memories of his association with the New Zealand Railways.
