The Mayor of Napier, Mr T. W. i Hercock, has acknowledged receipt j of £1 from a resident in Tangarakau. ! Taranaki, in repayment of a loan } from the mayor’s fund for assistance 1 to those in distress. “The action is so j rare that it deserves special men- j tion,” Mr Hercock remarked. j
