ABOARD WITHOUT PERMIT
NIGHT IN SHIP S PRISON (By Tclesraph.—press Association) WELLINGTON. Friday. Stated by counsel to have been locked up in a ship’s prison with a bayoneted guard over him all night until he was taken to the police station this morning, George Arthur Farnworth, civil servant, pleaded guilty before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., of a breach of the Shipping Emergency Regulations by going aboard a transport some time ago without a permit. He was fined £2. The police said accused was noticed leaving the ship about 9.45 p.m. Asked to produce his pass he refused and gave a false name. He later admitted his identity and produced a pass which had been cancelled when the ship was last in England.
