Pasternak Speeds Work on Marlene Dietrich Picture

Producer Joe Pasternak is speeding preparations for Marlene Dietrich's new starring vehicle, “Seven Sinners,” first of the actress’ pictures under the new and exclusive contract she signed with Universal folDeanna Durbin will star in a picture “Destry Rides Again.” Tay Garnett, one of the industry’s outstanding directors, has been signed to pilot the glamorous star in the new film, which will have for its exotic backgrounds the Dutch East Indies. Broderick Crawford, brilliant young character actor, has already been assigned to one of the chief supporting roles. Meanwhile, search continues for a romantic -male star to play opposite Miss Dietrich, although several of the screen’s most prominent leading men have already been rumoured for the role. John Meehan, ace scenarist, is putting polishing touches to Harry Tugend’s screenplay, based on an original story by Ladislou Fodor and Laslo Vadnai. Miss Dietrich, pending start of production, will remain in Palm Springs where she has been resting and recuperating from a minor cold.
