JpiNISHING her work on the screenplay on John Van Druten’s comedy, “ There’s Always Juliet,” recently, Virginia Van Upp has started on her original story, “ Virginia,” for producer-director Edward H. Griffith. Madeleine Carroll, Franchot Tone and Ray Milland have the leading roles. • • • • CCORDING to a Hollywood report: “ Ballyhoo for the newest edition of ‘ Who's Who in America ’ lists Shirley Temple as ‘ still the youngest member of the ‘Who’s Who’ family. She is also the youngest * retired ’ person ever to be listed in the volume.” . . . Radio offers for little Miss Temple keep pouring in. ITRIC VON STROHEIM, who has been making pictures in France for the past few years, returns to Hollywood shortly to appear with ballet dancer Zorina in " I Was An Adventuress.” Back in the old days Von Stroheim was one of the wickedest of all screen villains. He was also a great director, making such memorable epics as ’‘Foolish Wives,” and “ Greed.” The last-named is still hailed as one of the greatest dramatic productions of the screen. When first shown it ran eight hours, but was later cut to three hours.
