42 NAZI PLANES LOST NINE BRITISH MACHINES (United Press Asn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Sept. 19, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 18 It was officially stated at 8.45 p.m.: Forty-two enemy aircraft have been destroyed in engagements during the day. Nine Royal Air Force fighters were lost, but the pilots of five are safe.
