AIR RAID VICTIMS NEW ZEALAND SYMPATHY SUBSCRIPTION LIST OPENED The admiration of a freedom-loving world is focussed on London as daily the toll of the Nazi bombers mount and they leave in their wake shattered homes and buildings and pitiful suffering among civilians. The sympathy of this Dominion is taking a practical form. Already £IOO.OOO has been despatched to the Lord Mayor of London’s Fund for the assistance of those in distress. This amount has to be covered by public subscription, Waikato’s share having been fixed at £45,000. At the request of the patriotic zone a subscription list has been opened by the Waikato Times and all donations will be acknowledged. The following contribution is acknowledged:— £ s. d. Mr P. Reid 25 0 0 WOMEN’S FIGHTER FUND The New Zealand Women’s Fighter Fund in Hamilton stands at £l7l 13s 6d, the following being the latest donations:—
WELLINGTON GIVES £6922 (By Telegraph. —Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday The response to the appeal for £3OOO as the Wellington quota of the fund opened by the Lord Mayor of London for sufferers by German bombing had reached £6922 at 3 p.m. today.
