BULLS IN DEMAND
MARKET FOR JERSEYS BEST SALE FOR YEARS AUCTION AT CLAUDELANDS COMBINED BREEDERS’ FIXTURE Indicative of the 'Keen demand for bulls in the Waikato this season, competition for Jerseys at the annual bull sale of the Waikato Combined Breeders’ Association yesterday was the most animated experienced at this fixture for some years. Bidding from a record bench of buyers. which taxed the accommodation in the roomy selling pavilion, was keen from the outset and showed little slackening even over the final sales in the late afternoon. Star lots of yesterday’s catalogue made from 60 to 71 gns under the hammer, while a private sale after the auction was reported at 75 gns. Other attractive* bulls made from 40 to 50 gns and there were comparatively few sold below 30 gns. The average price for 130 bulls approximated 38J gns. Aged, yearling and two-year-old Jerseys were sold yesterday. The balance of the Jerseys were offered today, and tomorrow the sale will conclude with the auction of Ayrshires. Shorthorns and Friesians. Altogether* 176 bulls were catalogued yesterday, but a number did not come forward, approximately 130 being offered. The sale is being conducted by the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Messrs Dalgety and Company,, and Messrs G. W.
