AIRCRAFTSMAN SENTENCED TWO SOLDIERS DETAINED Sentence on a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force and two members of the New Zealand mili- • tary forces was promulgated yester- • day, following a court-martial which ' sat at Papakura camp last week. j Aircraftsman (First Class) R. G. • Walker was sentenced to 30 days' I imprisonment without hard labour ! and was ordered to be dismissed ! from His Majesty's service with i ignominy. i Private A. F. Johnson, 24th (Auck- • land) Battalion, was sentenced to 14 : days’ detention, and Gunner J. Croft, j 9th Heavy Regiment, New Zealand Artillery, was sentenced to 30 days’ detention. The three men were jointly charged with using violence to their superior officer; creating disorder to the prejudice of good order and military discipline; striking a person in whose custody they were placed; and committing a civil offence, assault In addition, Aircraftsman Walker v/as charged separately with wilfully injuring public property and with conduct to the prejudice of good j order and military discipline. Privj ate Johnson was also separately • charged with using insubordinate j language to his superior officer. I The charges arose from incidents i alleged to have occurred when the I men were in the isolation hospital at the camp on August 15.
